Room after room, the story of humanity in Limburg unfolds, from prehistory to the end of the Roman era. Neanderthals, the first farmers, Celts, Gallo-Romans and Germanic peoples all left their mark here.\r\n\r\nMore than 2,000 illuminated objects \u2014 from hand axes and pottery to architectural fragments, jewellery and small deity figures \u2014 tell this story. Lifelike figures, animations, models and films add context and depth. From building techniques and food culture to fashion, religion and law: all aspects of daily life are explored.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h3>Partners in VIA VIA<\/h3>\r\nIn 2028, the Gallo-Roman Museum will undergo a major transformation. Central to this renewal is the significance of Atuatuca Tungrorum \u2014 Roman Tongeren \u2014 and the civitas Tungrorum, the wider administrative district of which the city was the centre. Visitors will discover how Roman governance and daily life functioned: from the rights of citizens and slaves to justice, public services, taxation and the role of the army.\r\n\r\nA brand-new immersive room forms the heart of this transformation. Through virtual reconstructions, it brings Roman sites and historical events from Tongeren and the civitas Tungrorum to life. Visitors are immersed in a hyper-realistic experience that lets them wander through the Roman city as if they were truly there.
