Originally, the chamber was located directly on Agrippastrasse. Workers discovered it in 1899 during the construction of the station building for the Cologne-Bonn District Railway (Vorgebirgsbahn). The burial chamber likely dates from the late 3rd or 4th century.\r\n\r\nInside the almost square interior stand massive sarcophagi made of light sandstone. They are damaged, however \u2013 especially the lids, which are only partially intact. No grave goods were found, suggesting that the chamber was looted. Of the deceased themselves, only a skull and some long bones survived.\r\n\r\nThe floor of the chamber is paved with volcanic tuff blocks. In the lower section, the walls consist of red sandstone blocks of varying sizes. These are spolia, meaning reused stones from an older structure. The tuff vault, which must have been approximately 3.25 meters high, rests on the base. The ceiling is missing. Therefore, what the building looked like above ground remains unknown.\r\n\r\nA passage led into the burial chamber, the northern wall of which is well preserved. The chamber was closed by a door, probably made of wood. At the end of the northern entrance wall, the door jamb and a hole for the door bolt are clearly visible. The sarcophagi are wider than the entrance \u2013 they must therefore have been placed in the still-open chamber during construction.\r\n\r\nA key for visiting the burial chamber can be borrowed from the H\u00fcrth City Administration, City Archives (Tel. +49 2233 53-0, stadtarchiv@huerth.de).
