That is where his love for beer began. At the age of 21, he made the transition into the real world of brewing. Today, his passion is reflected in a Roman-inspired beer: \u2018Tungri Gold\u2019."},{"acf_fc_layout":"tekst_foto","tekst":"<h3>Where did your love for beer begin?<\/h3>\r\nIn 2005\u20132006, more attention started being paid to the emerging speciality beers. That really triggered me. I began exploring the world of beer and discovered the incredible variety of flavours. I saw opportunities there and, together with my friend Bart, decided to develop a beer for the Coronation Festivities in 2011.\r\n<h3>And how do you even begin something like that?<\/h3>\r\nWell, we tested an enormous number of flavours. Different types of hops and yeasts all had their turn. That is how we discovered that hops from America are very floral, while those from Eastern Europe (Czech Republic and Poland) are more bitter. After extensive testing and tasting, our very first beer, \u2018Amburon\u2019, was born.","foto":24627},{"acf_fc_layout":"foto_tekst","foto":24555,"tekst":"<h3>Have you always worked in Tongeren?<\/h3>\r\nNo, not at all. We had the opportunity to work in different places and gain knowledge and experience. From the beverage trade, I moved to Brewery Anders in Halen, before eventually ending up at Brewery Brother Jacob in Tongeren. From there, I started my own independent journey, which led to the creation of the beer \u2018Tungri\u2019 in 2023: a spicy yet fruity beer with a more complex flavour palette. And now we are continuing its development with \u2018Tungri Gold\u2019.\r\n<h3>Why \u2018Tungri Gold\u2019?<\/h3>\r\nWell, Tongeren is the Roman city par excellence. We simply had to do something with that. Through the VIA VIA contacts and a trade fair where I met beekeeper De Kevi, the idea of working with honey emerged: the sweetness of the Romans. We experimented with the amount of hops and combined it with local honey from \u2018De Kevi\u2019. Tell us more!<\/h3>\r\nWhenever you brew beer, there are always residual products left behind. Anna Pomarenko, a Ukrainian lady, started experimenting with the leftover grain from our brewing process. She felt it was important to handle food sustainably, including residual streams. That is how our beer crackers were born: a light, crispy snack with a savoury touch. Packed with fibres and plant-based proteins.
