During this walk through Roman Maastricht, you will discover where the first inhabitants of Maastricht lived, bathed, traded, defended the city, worshipped their gods, and buried their dead.<\/p>\n<p>When constructing the Via Belgica, the old Roman road from Boulogne-sur-Mer to Cologne, the Romans encountered the River Meuse. They built a bridge, and around this bridge a lively settlement arose.
