This walking route offers both a literal and a figurative highlight. After a steep climb, you reach the \u201croof of the Netherlands,\u201d where you can enjoy a magnificent view. Looking out over this landscape also gives you a glimpse into the past: it was the Romans who cultivated this area on a large scale for agriculture. All those fields are part of the Roman heritage.<\/p>\n
There is also an archaeological highlight from Roman times, as you pass the site of one of the most important Roman finds in the Netherlands: the Lady of Simpelveld.
