The exact route still remains something of a mystery, but the Romans left plenty of traces behind. Along this long-distance trail, you will experience Roman South Limburg, just as Roman soldiers did centuries ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Via Belgica was an ancient Roman road running from Boulogne-sur-Mer in France to Cologne in Germany. On its way, the Via Belgica crossed South Limburg. It entered the Netherlands at Maastricht and left again at Rimburg. The presence of this major Roman road had a significant impact on the surrounding region.
