In the village of Bocholtz, the Roman past is still very much alive. The baker bakes Roman bread, the farmer ploughs the land above the remains of Roman villas, and the bank preserves the monetary heritage of the Romans. During your walk, take a break in a traditional village café, taste the Roman bread, or enjoy an Italian ice cream.
Even in Roman times, people lived and worked in and around what is now Bocholtz — mainly on the fields of Roman farmsteads such as Villa Vlengendaal. In that respect, little has changed, as the villa remains are still found in agricultural land. Roman heritage is everywhere!
