The first drillings have been carried out in the Ingenieur Dinger Garden in Heerlen.

Regional archaeologist Hilde Vanneste and archaeologist Roel Roggen (RAAP) have placed drillings in various locations in the Ingenieur Dinger Garden in Heerlen. They want to discover more about the soil structure. Fortunately, in several places it turned out to be still undisturbed.

So there may still certainly be traces, finds and structures from the Roman period present—ranging from a wall or a potsherd to a fine object. On Sunday 18 June, during the National Archaeology Days, the kick-off of Heel Heerlen Digs! will take place. Then, between 13:45 and 17:00, the first small pit will be dug in the Ingenieur Dinger Garden. We are already curious. You too?

From 13:00 to 17:00 you can experience activities at various places in Heerlen: sieving for finds, excavating a skeleton, cooking with the Roman cook, mending pottery sherds and much more. Pick up your programme booklet at De Vondst, Raadhuisplein 20, in Heerlen from 13:00 onwards.
