Research

From 2024 onwards, Via Belgica will once again focus more on research.

Many discoveries, many stories

Scattered across the Limburg landscape and beyond its borders, lie numerous Roman sites and stories waiting to be uncovered. Some are still visible in the landscape, others are no longer. Many Roman artifacts can be discovered in museums, such as the Roman Museum in Heerlen, Centre Céramique in Maastricht, Grand Curtius in Liège, Museum Valkenburg, Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren, the Limburgs Museum in Venlo, the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, the Citadel Museum in Jülich, Centre Charlemagne in Aachen, the Roman Catacombs in Valkenburg, the Roman-Germanic Museum in Cologne, etc.

Researchers and archaeologists are in constant search of new stories, new discoveries. Via Belgica keeps you updated via the blog.

Many specialists

The Via Belgica project focuses on promoting cross-border collaboration between researchers and museums from 2024 to 2027. Below you can discover a few example projects.

We collaborate with many curators, researchers, and archaeologists. If you are interested in contributing and would like to join the scientific advisory board, please contact us at info@viabelgica.eu.

Participation

Citizen participation is becoming increasingly important in our society. In the research of our past we are also involving more and more citizens. Example projects are Heel Heerlen Graaft! and Rimburg graaft/gräbt!.
