REWATCH – L1 ‘Treasures of the Via Belgica’ episode 8 – Riemst

Author: Via Belgica
Photography: Via Belgica

In this episode we cross the border near Maastricht and arrive in Riemst, Belgium. There, hidden in the landscape, you can find a tumulus, in other words, a Roman burial mound. For the construction of their roads, the Romans used their own clever navigation system. Roman expert Jos explains how it worked. In the Roman kitchen we work with elderflower, brought here by the Romans. You can make all kinds of delicious things with it, such as a dressing for a fresh summer salad.
